Demystifying The Excavation Process: A Step By Step Overview From Shrock Excavating

SITE SURVEY

Initially we will arrive to survey the land to be worked on.  This will involve obtaining a scope of both the layout and the equipment that will be needed, and determining where an access road can be built for the entering and exiting of our heavy equipment.  During this step there may also be soil samples taken for evaluating the water and rock content of the soil. 

SETTING BOUNDARIES

Next, our team will clearly mark off where the structure being built will be placed.  This will establish where our team needs to dig.  It will also provide a visual of what obstacles need to be removed from the actual build perimeter and assure that the area is level and prepared for heavy equipment.   

EXCAVATE

Our first obligation will be to remove any of the obstacles within the perimeter of the structure being built.  Whether it be trees, roots, underground barriers, they will need to be removed and hauled off.  Shrock Excavating’s professionals will dig to the precise depth of your needs.  The foundation, basement or crawl space, will be dug.  Any other drainage needs will also be prepared for the structure. 

GRADE/SMOOTH

Next, we’ll smooth out the loose dirt and backfill around the structure.  The slope of the yard will need to be graded to ensure proper drainage away from the structure.  Our team will also replenish the property with topsoil for the eventual growth of vegetation.  Erosion control may also be completed to prevent topsoil from running onto nearby properties in the event of a heavy rain. 

Shrock Excavating will also leave the job site clean and free of debris for the next step in your construction project.
