Price Factors In a Demolition Project
Price Factors In a Demolition Project
Price matters. Whether you’re a customer of food, home goods or excavating services, price is a very important factor in the purchase of goods or services. There are several issues to consider when determining the price of a demolition. Let’s look at those issues below.
COSTS PRIOR TO DEMOLITION
At the beginning of your demolition project, there will be quite a few expenses to add to your project budget. These expenses will include preparing the structure for being torn down. The costs vary by location, the local codes, permits, and mandates. In general, this stage could cost from $2,500 up to $50,000.
COSTS DURING DEMOLITION
The main element to consider when figuring demolition cost is what materials were used when the structure was built. Generally, you can estimate paying $2 - $7 per square foot.
- The most cost effective demolition is on metal structures. Their frames are fairly simple to dismantle and the metal is recyclable, bringing down the cost to haul off debris.
- Wood structures are the next in line for being cost effective. Again, the frames are uncomplicated to dismantle, yet the costs come from the complexity of disposal with materials that are unable to be compacted or recycled.
- Brick structures are the most expensive to demolish. The bricks are not recyclable (or rarely recycled), heavy, and costly to dispose of. Cinder blocks, however, are often crushed and reused in concrete projects and may bring the cost down.
